I removed Firefox and then started Microsoft Security Essentials again, and after all the various pop-up messages that this is not necessary, the Software Center button on the toolbar no longer appeared, and I am not allowed to open it from either the Start Menu or the Taskbar. I have tried to add Firefox again, but can not. It says that "there are problems with one or more installed products". Is this because Microsoft Security Essentials is protecting Firefox from "spyware" somehow? I don't know. If this is the case, I would like to know, so I can move on and get things fixed. Help me, please! I have not yet uninstalled Microsoft Security Essentials, and I really don't want to have to do that. I am still using Firefox, and I want it to run as it is intended to - not faster than a snail.
